External roller blinds consist of the following components:
- Armouring composed of panels being 9 mm thick roller-formed aluminium sections filled with polyurethane foam. A special type of high-durability foam is used in the "Safe" anti-burglary system. Panels can be 37 - 55mm high. They are coated with polyester varnish which makes them resistant to abrasion and impact of weather conditions.
- Roller blind case into which the roller armouring is reeled. Depending on the height, various case sizes are applied. It is also possible to use various shapes, from traditional rectangular cut-off to completely rounded ones. All of them are available in numerous colour options and a with a wide range of wood-like veneers.
- Vertical guides can be made of aluminium or PVC, depending on the system of choice. They serve as a means for the roller armouring movement. They are provided with rubber or brush gaskets and PVC slides enabling almost noiseless raising and lowering of the armouring. In the "Safe" system, the guides are additionally reinforced to protect them against being torn out.
- Roll shaft provided with a bearing from one side and a manual or electric driving unit from the other side.
- Roller blind driving unit can be a traditional, manual one with cord or girdle coilers, crank coilers and spring mechanisms, or a comfortable electric driving unit manufactured by SOMFLY, controlled with buttons or a remote control device with dusk, wind and sun automatic response systems.
